The problem

A modern production estate generates millions of tags. Wells, pads, compression, gathering, tank batteries — every one of them instrumented, every one of them producing history that somebody has to keep.

The systems of record built to hold that data were priced for a world before storage was cheap. Cost rises in a straight line with tag count, so the operators with the most data have the most reason to throw it away — slower scan rates, tags left uncollected, retention shortened. The estate that most needs its history is the one being priced into deleting it, exactly as every analytics and AI plan depends on having kept it.

Where we start

Oil and gas upstream, on operators standardizing on Ignition, with ingestion built on OPC-UA and Sparkplug B. It is the estate where tag counts are largest and current licensing hurts most. The architecture generalizes to chemicals, power and manufacturing without being rebuilt.
